Working with Resins

Workshop

This will be a comprehensive and detailed workshop and demonstration exploring the use of high gloss resins as a coating for acrylic collages and paintings and prints. You will learn the basics of working with the resins, safety precautions, and how to make your own moulds from which you can create cast resin forms. We will introduce the new no vocarb, non-toxic resin and cover info on traditional resins and casting resins. Additionally, we will explore encaustic-like resin matt finishes and creative ventures using colored resin. Exciting ideas juxtaposing gloss resin surfaces with other material will be shared. We will learn to make inexpensive wood substrates for use with resins. Each participant will receive a premade 12”x12” substrate on which to create an image and bring to workshop ready for a gloss resin coating. Resins can add new and exciting dimension to any artist's work. There will be no materials to purchase for the workshop. a paint. Each student will have one piece of work coated with the resin gloss finish. Workshop designed for fine artists, printmakers, photographers and crafters.

Workshop: Combining Traditional Printmaking with Digital Transfers

This comprehensive 2 day mixed media printmaking workshop will explore the process of combining digital inkjet transfers and traditional printmaking techniques such as monoprint, drypoint , etching and chine collé,l linocut and collagraph. We will also explore printing digital images directly on printmaking paper then printing traditional plates over these images. Each student will learn the alcohol gel transfer process and experiment with creating layered prints by adding images from traditional printmaking plates. We will create collagraph plates with wallpaper textures and your collage materials. These unique layered prints can be further altered with mixed media processes. This integrative process will produce exciting one of a kind prints.
